Contact angle analysis

Observing the contact angle of a liquid on a samples surface can be a simple way of determining a samples hydrophobicity. To measure this many contact angle analysers use a high resolution camera to take an image, then use specific software to interpret the photo and provide the angle of contact. It is often used in conjunction with other surface analysis techniques to paint a complete picture of surface behaviour based on a sample’s surface chemistry and roughness.
