Nanofabrication excellence on display at AIP2018

An enlightening four days were held in December as the world of physics descended on the University of Western Australia for the 23rd Australian Institute of Physics Congress.

The conference yet again demonstrated Australia’s position on the world stage of research excellence with exciting talks covering photonics, optics, and plasmonics. Researchers from across the country and further afield were solving problems for a diverse range of application areas from the food and agriculture industry through to quantum computing and gravitational wave detection.

From an ANFF perspective too, it was fantastic to see such a large number of ANFF-enabled research being exhibited both in the six concurrent lecture streams and in the poster sessions.

Preceding the days of talks, ANFF held a Short Course on Nanofabrication Technologies. The course – which completely sold out – provided 100 researchers and engineers with the fundamentals of lithography, etching, micromachining, laser processing, thin film deposition and other essential topics for building the devices of the future.
