Process Engineer: Optical Lithography position at ANFF University of Sydney

Senior Professional Officer in Precision Sensing and Nanoscience

Senior Professional Officer position is available for a 2.5 year term in the University of Queensland Precision Sensing Initiative. The role will provide operational, technical and strategic support to researchers in the fabrication, integration and packaging of precision sensing devices, and engage as appropriate with relevant industry stakeholders including existing partners such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing and NASA and new partners. It will, further, be central in the development of an Optoelectronic Integration Facility at the University of Queensland for packaging and rapid prototyping of devices.

Applicants should have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of micro/nano device fabrication and characterisation, optoelectronic integration/packaging, wafer bonding, and/or fibre pigtailing. You should also possess the ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the Precision Sensing Initiative and Optoelectronic Integration Facility at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.

The University of Queensland Precision Sensing Initiative is a joint initiative between the Schools of Mathematics and Physics and Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland (http://www.smp.uq.edu.au/psi). It aims to translate next generation sensing research into industry-ready technologies for the biomedical, aerospace, resources and defence industries; and to strengthen the Universities engagement with industry partners.

Designing lithography masks with AutoCAD

In an effort to assist you with your research, ANFF-SA are again pleased to offer a short course entitled Designing lithography masks with AutoCAD – a practical guide to producing design files that can be submitted for fabricating. The course shall be held at 9am on Friday 17th November in Building F, room 1-13

This course will cover the common design aspects encountered when preparing a lithography mask. By the end of the course you will be confident that the mask you order shall be fit for your application. The course is not designed as a familiarisation to AutoCAD, so it is expected that attendees shall understand some basics of using AutoCAD.

ANFF Staff Travel Fund announced

ANFFL has announced a Staff Travel Fund that will help to pay for interstate travel of ANFF node’s staff to other ANFF facilities.

Grants are available for up to AU$2,000 and cover interstate airfares, food and accommodation.

The fund is designed to help increase staff awareness of the capabilities available across the ANFF network, to build closer linkages between nodes, and increase opportunities for collaboration.

The fund provides reimbursement to nodes for staff to travel to undertake activities intended to enhance the capabilities of the applicant’s home node, the node being visited, or the wider ANFF network.

Successful applicants will be required to present a talk on their home node at the node they are visiting, and also to report back on their trip with a talk once they arrive back home.

Applicants must hold a position at least partly funded by the ANFF and must hold that position when the travel occurs.

2017 ANFF - AMMRF Annual Research Showcase

This year the Australian National Fabrication Facility and the Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Research Facility will be jointly holding an Annual Research Showcase on 22 and 23 November 2017 at the Australian Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology, Sydney Nanoscience Hub. The event will present a mix of high quality academic and industrial papers, which will provide attendees an insight into the innovative developments and trends in the field of micro and nanofabrication and characterisation.

Positions available at Optofab

ANFF's Optofab node is looking for skilled process and equipment engineers to grow its micro and nanofabrication facility at the University of Sydney.

This is a great opportunity to join the team as it builds up this new facility in a purpose-built state-of-the-art cleanroom in the Sydney Nanoscience Hub building, the home of the Australian Institute of Nanoscale Science and Technology. The facility is one of the University’s Core Research Facilities, and part of the Australian National Fabrication Facility network.

It’s an exciting time as the building and cleanroom are very new, about a third of the equipment is installed and running with new tools arriving regularly. The facility needs to build the team that runs these tools, and will work with researchers from academia and industry on a wide range of cutting edge research projects.

Optofab is currently recruiting into three positions, which close on 21st September.
